UV-1's disinfection process has also been used for many years to purify drinking water for communities, hospital, breweries and dairies... UV-1 is a high technology flo-through stainless steel device that uses ultraviolet light to virtually eliminate bacteria, viruses, and algae.  Remember, clear water is NOT necessarily clean water!

THERE ARE THREE BASIC WAVELENGTHS
OF ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT

UV-A 315-400 NANOMETERS:
THIS IS VISIBLE LIGHT SUCH AS A FLUORESCENT BULB-THIS LAMP PRODUCES A MINOR AMOUNT OF INVISIBLE LIGHT THAT IS ABSORBED BY THE PHOSPHORUS COATING ON THE INSIDE OF THE LAMP

UV-B 280-315 NANOMETERS:
THIS IS TYPICALLY THE MOST DANGEROUS OF UV LIGHT-MOST OF IT IS ABSORBED BY THE OZONE LAYER, BUT SOME STILL PASSES THRU AND THIS IS WHAT CAUSES SKIN CANCER AND SUNBURNS

UV-C 100-280 NANOMETERS:
THIS IS ALMOST NEVER SEEN IN NATURE AS IT IS ALL ABSORBED BY THE OZONE LAYER-THIS IS THE SPECIFIC WAVELENGTH THAT WE WILL BE TALKING ABOUT AS IT IS 99.98% EFFECTIVE IN KILLING BACTERIA, VIRUS AND ALGAE. THE EXACT WAVELENGTH IS 253.7 NANOMETERS. THIS LIGHT IS INVISIBLE TO THE HUMAN EYE.

 COMMONLY CALLED GERMICIDAL RADIATION:

GERMICIDAL RADIATION WAS DISCOVERED 150 YEARS AGO. IT DEVELOPED FROM A LABORATORY ODDITY TO AN ENGINEERING TOOL AROUND 40 YEARS AGO.

ONCE THE ENGINEERS PERFECTED GERMICIDAL RADIATION IT PROVED TO BE THE MOST EFFECTIVE MEANS OF KILLING BACTERIA, VIRUS, AND ALGAE. ALONG WITH IT BEING THE MOST EFFECTIVE IT ALSO BECAME THE MOST COST EFFECTIVE METHOD.

EVERY MICRO-ORGANISM REQUIRES A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF MICRO-WATTS (ENERGY PRODUCED BY THE LAMP) TO DESTROY IT-THE ENERGY LEVEL CHART GIVES A LIST OF CERTAIN MICRO-ORGANISMS AND THE MICRO-WATTS NEEDED FOR THEIR DESTRUCTION

THE ULTRAVIOLET LAMP RADIATES THIS INVISIBLE LIGHT INTO THE WATER AND IF IT IS OF THE RIGHT MICRO-WATTAGE IT WILL DESTROY THE MICRO-ORGANISM

THIS IS HOW ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT WORKS-VERY SIMPLY

Parabolic and Elliptical Reflectors:

Reflectance Of Our Stainless Steel Design Is 30% more effective than Other PVC Models

Reflectors for linear UV radiators that are mounted over  reaction vessels or stationary surfaces are often a parabolic shape to produce either parallel or a divergent beam.  This  process allows the surface to be irradiated when moving with uniform speed under the UV source a linear lamp placed on the focus of a reflector with an elliptical cross-section being used.  The surface to be treated (water) moves through the other focus of  the ellipse and is thus exposed to a narrow zone of high irradiance by the light.  This arrangement is particularly popular irradiating diseases in a continuous process.  Coatings on wire, or fluids (your pond water or swimming pool water) streaming through a narrow quartz tube, may be irradiated from all sides by placing the linear radiator in one focus of an elliptical duct with reflecting inner surface(UV-1's 100% stainless steel material), and the material to be irradiated in the other.  Our Stainless Steel Construction Reflectance Percentage is 30% at a rate of reflectance of surfaces to UV 253.7 nm radiation.
